Euphonium Practice Mute recommendations

Hello all,

I'm looking for a Euphonium practice/travel mute. What do you all like? I'm mostly concerned with ease of travel (Fits flush in the bell, or comes apart to fit in the case easily) and feeling good when you play it without messing up the intonation too badly. I'm not so worried about it being really super soft, I just want to take the edge off the volume. Would appreciate any suggestions, I haven't shopped in a while.

Thanks!

Ryan

Hi Ryan,

I have a Best Brass practice mute. It fits fairly flush with the rim depending on the bell diameter and bell flare. It kills about 90% of the sound I think and does effect intonation some. When I still had my Yamaha 641 it stuck out of the bell by about an inch. That feature actually helps protect the bell when in a hard case from damage (see image below). On my M5050 (Miraphone), the mute sits below the rim some. Because of that feature I added a small knob so I could remove it easily.
