Replacement Linkage Parts

I've got an old Alex F that had the linkage redone. The person that did the work used a plastic casing that fit over the ball on the valve, kind of like a ball and socket.

Over the weekend my horn tipped over, doing hardly any damage to the horn; but it did hit my chair at just the right angle to break off the ball that is attached to the valve, rendering my horn inoperable. I'm having trouble locating a new ball. Any ideas??

Thanks for your help,
Chris

Take your plastic socket to your local model shop and you probably will find a ball that will fit. Getting the screw out of your stop hub will be the hard part

If your linkage looks like this... it is made from DuBro components.

If it's a match, go to DuBro at http://www.dubro.com/DU-BRO/index.htm and search for 'ball links'.

Try this and see if you see anything similar to what's on your tuba:

What I would do is take the stop arm off the valve and take it to a hobby shop and see if you can find the right one. odds are the threads are 4-40 or possibly 2-56. Posting a picture here will not help you determine that.

Cheers,
