Hey folks,

I am preparing to play Till for an upcoming concert.

I’m just curious for those of you who have played it, what your choice of Horn was. The part that I’m looking at, does say bass tuba, and it does seem to be written with an F in mind.

Just curious about what the thinking is out there!

I played it on a a JBL and PT6 on separate performances. Strauss definitely knew what he was doing when it wrote the part however I think the part works better on the larger horn.

The part saying bass tuba doesn’t really mean much. Ive never gotten the chance to perform it, however when I've practiced the excerpts and heard it live I’ve always thought contrabass tuba works best. If I had my ultimate choice I’d say a small-medium rotor cc would be perfect. Miraphone Buckner, HB2, etc. But I’d probably just play it on my PT6P and call it a day.
