you better keep your transposing skills up!
I was on tour this past weekend with the Queen City Brass, and my tuba was lost by the airline on Saturday. To make a long story short, we played at a church on Sunday morning, and the tuba didn't arrive until midway thru the service. I was able to borrow a BBb tuba from a local university, but being I was using my F on tour, it made for some interesting mental games. I had not played a BBb tuba for any length of time in about 15 years, mainly playing CC and F. I am willing to admit it was a little unnerving at first, but things turned out fine. I will be thanking Sam Green for forcing me to transpose in every lesson!
