It doesn't look too bad, and although Mahillon is not known as a great tuba manufacturer, their horns were competent. Of course you never know the condition of the valves on something like this and that could significantly impact its playability. Also, that line on the bell looks suspicious. If it's just a mark it doesn't matter, but it looks like it might be a repaired crack. Overall I think that this would be likely to be a very reasonable starting horn if it sells for less than $500.

What's the deal with the hand rest and thumb ring behind the valves? I've never seen that before. Anyone have a better pic of it?

I'll let you know what that handle is.

I noticed that weird handle too. It looks oddly familiar, but not tuba-esque. Like something from an aluminum can crusher, or the knife switch from Dr. Frankenstein's lab.

I wasn't you...my guess it was the 1st person who linked to the pic that was
supposed to show up (from the properties on the pic my guess it was Thunderbird wine. For those too young to know their tagline was "What's the word?...Thunderbird!"...that's where Blokes joke was going.) Some website opperators do this to discourage linking from their website. A simular pic can be seen here
