Hi,
since I have the 1292 I'd respond to your post..
The 1292 is the same horn as 1291 but with some changes that I did to mine.
1. smaller lead pipe. a bit faster response and more core to the sound.
2. ring on the bell. more core in the sound and clarity
3. 3rd tuning slide has a little different wrap bringing it up further so the player can reach it a bit easer.
4. the tuning slide on 4th is much longer to make 4th slide pulls easier, as not to pull it out of the horn...
the wrap it up.. everyone that has played it has loved it..
go fo the 1292. Those of you that have bought the 1291 that want to give you horn a bit of a kick, I believe Miraphone may make the smaller pipe available, when, donno...
good luck,
Al Baer

I just received my new 1291 CC this afternoon, and have been playing it for hours. (I stopped only when I heard mob sounds outside and saw neighbors with pitchforks and torches gathering in front of my house.)

The 1291 is flat out the finest tuba I have ever played. It is an outstanding instrument and deserving of high praise. Miraphone really did something miraculous when they designed this tuba. The horn practically plays itself.

And, the 1292 is supposed to be even better? Good work, Miraphone and Alan Baer.
