Hello,
I am looking for recommendations for mouthpiece
specialists. I have a couple of good standard models I want to modify. This would involve drilling out the throat, and taking
some metal from inside the cup.

I have had a few mouthpieces worked on by Vladimir at Dillon Music. They have all turned out exceptionally well.

I'd highly recommend him.

Edit: Schilke had an excellent custom mouthpiece maker too, Karl Hammond. See my second post for more details.

Try Stork Custom M P in Vermont. 802-454-1004, they make fine pieces, don't know if they do mods.

Schilke music in Chicago. Good reputation and reasonable prices.

Karl Hammond at Schilke does amazing work. I've had him make me a SH-II rim from scratch to function as a Doug Elliott component that turned out absolutely perfect.

Schilke also made the custom mouthpiece I'm using on my F tuba with the cup and backbore from a Yamaha Roger Bobo Solo mouthpiece and the rim from a Floyd Cooley Helleberg. Like with the rim he made me, the worksmanship on this piece is amazing.

I'd recommend both Karl Hammond at Schilke and Vladimir at Dillon's. I don't think you can go wrong either way.
