45 Slp lives again

Post by Ivan Giddings »

Just wanted to let eveybody know that I finally got my 45 Slp all back together again. I posted a long time ago that I was going to make several modifications to my tuba, and let you all know how it turned out. So far I'm very happy. I put the 5th valve inthe 4rth valve slide so you have to use the the 4th to make use of the 5th. The benifit is that the tuba plays better because only the 4th valve has the rotary sillyness and the rest of the tuba valves 1, 2, & 3 have only a nice tuning slid to go through to reach the main body of the tuba.

In my excperience playing F tuba has a lot of 1,2,&3 valve stuff, and the added weight to the 4th valve iss good for low notes.

all in all I'm happy with my modifications. And the tuba doesn't look half bad considering that I used a normal propane torch to do all the work.
