So far as I know, Weril makes two Eb tubas, the J330, a 3v top action piston 3/4 size, and the J682, a four valve front action piston horn, size 3/4??. The Weril US website does not even list the J682 on its tuba page.

From what I've heard, the small Weril BBb tubas get generally decent reviews. Does anyone have experience with the Eb models. There is some discussion about this on the old TubeNet but it is several years old.

Also, is the front action model sold in the US? I've seen it on some of the English sites but not here. How does this one compare to the Yamaha YEB-321S?

Their euphoniums are well-made and a solid deal, I can tell you that. I haven't played their tubas yet.

Interesting that between all the keys and styles of tuba -- Eb, CC, BBb, top action, front action -- there seems to be one bell size, and one bore size. Evidently using the same valve sections, bells and maybe other branches. Not that there's anything wrong with that if it works, and reports seem to say it does, just thinking that the Eb in this lineup might have a relatively big sound. Still not quite the size of the YEB 321, though.

Come to think of it, The Josef Lidl tubas are also similar to the Weril in that the Bb, C, Eb and F all have the same bell and bore and overall size. I own a Lidl Bb - very nice horn. Lee Stofer had a couple of C tubas which were said to be very nice. I don't think anyone has seen either the Eb or the F tubas here in the US.

The YEB-321 is a bit larger. The Weril BBb, CC, and Eb 3/4-size horns (3- and 4-valve) are "patterned after" the Yamaha YxB-621 family (which includes the YBB-105). The intriguing thing about the Weril 682 is that it fills the "gap" in the Yamaha family (Yamaha doesn't make a YEB-621, just as Weril doesn't make an F version).
