What's a YamaFone?

THAT's what you get when you put a bell from a Yamaha YBB201 onto a Mirafone 186?

The one with the Yammie bell is on the right. The camera angle makes it look shorter but both horns are the same height. The swap went very well because the Yammie bell throat when the bell is trimmed to the proper length is nearly identical to the Mirafone bell... 'cept the bell diameter is 17 1/4". It plays great! (The chicken had nothing to do with it!)

I beg to digress....the chicken ALWAYS has something to do with it.

The thought of what that horn could/may sound like made the hair stand up on the back of my neck, and gave me a case of the "cold sweats"

Who knows, when YOU play it, I might LIKE it........

By the way, isn't it going from Mouthpiece to bell? hence: A "MIRAMAHA" ???

i think Tubatinker is onto something, depending on the sound.we've all seen several otherwise great old 186's go for a song on ebay because they were bell front only.this would be a great and cost effective way to get a possibly nice and economical 186.This is very similar to how i got my big holton for a fraction of it's value(and with a brand new stainless steel valve section to boot).http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c228/ ... 95cef6.jpg
