Sorry it's real short notice but,
Andy Smith and I were planning on doing a geek night over at my apartment on Sat. I have the entire Mike Finn line for people to try out, as well as all (except the churda) of the stainless steel G&W's and the Paul Sidey SSH. Send me a PM and we can work out a time and figure out how many folks are going to come by. We'll check out some MPC's, read some duets, talk shop listen to some CD's check out some tuba video stuff, whatever. Let me know if you guys want to come out.

Perhaps you can explain how a Geek Night works, for those of us who are curious.

Is it like a Tupperware Party Party for Tubists?

Doe everyone bring their own horn?

Do I have to bring my own pocket-protector?

Will you provide the adhesive tape for my glasses just in case they get broken?

Would you also do an oil tasting? I've seen this done with olive oils. Very exciting!

Well, I was planning on bringing my digital calipers, a few soldering supplies, some red and white wine, a bottle of Old Weller 7 yr. old Bourbon and twenty cases of beer... but it's my bday and my folks are coming to visit.

This really sounds like fun, Bill. I wish I lived in the area.

BTW, I still have that mpc I made into a visualizer for you; I will send it if you PM me your address.

about the apartment isuue, I actually live in a townhouse (rental) in an apartment community. I live on the end and before I moved in I talk to the next door neighbour and the rental office for a while explaining what I and my clarinet playing girlfriend do for a living. Luckily they were all ok with it and it helps that our neighbor's daughter plays euphonium in her middle school band and now she is not afraid to practice because before I was here they were worried about the people who live in my apartment complaining, so it's win/ win. We did decide that 9pm would be a good cut off time for us, but if her car is not outside the front of our building i can go as long as I want, but I should be kinda careful because the next unit over can probably hear me also. So far after about 6 months, no problems yet, but I had no idea what I would be getting into when I moved to atlanta, I did buy a silent brass, which I do use when I get the hankering to play tuba in the wee small hours of the morning.

Bill, have you put any of the new pieces against the Currys that you were playing? If so, what have you found? Hope you're enjoying Atlanta on the civilian side.
