It is with great pleasure that I invite you to the International Euphonium Institute 2006 taking place at Emory University from June 11-17, 2006. The institute will span both music buildings and the evening concerts will take place in the new 800 seat Emerson Concert Hall.
The International Euphonium Institute (IEI) brings together a staff of internationally recognized euphonium performers and teachers to lead a 7-day intensive course focusing on the advancement of the euphonium through performance, understanding, outreach, and knowledge. The IEI aims to encourage conceptual learning, practical studies, fundamentals, and exploration of new ways to present the euphonium in a non-competitive environment. The IEI course caters to euphonium players and enthusiasts of ALL levels. We hope to bring together a great mix of aspiring young players, talented college students, motivated enthusiasts, and hard working amateurs!! Participants will be immersed in recitals, chamber music, concerts, focus classes, and master classes. Full participants will have private instruction during the week and have the choice to perform in master classes as well as being offered solo and ensemble performance experiences at the IEI and at outreach concerts in the community.
This year’s lineup of Artists is most impressive starting with classes from a former member of the Canadian Brass and the Principal Cellist of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra to mention just two new additions.
