"That's what a real man plays"

This has got to be one of the funniest things I have heard in a while.

Tonight, I played in a BQ for a banquet. During one of the pieces that had a moving tuba line (thankfully many of them did) an old lady in the audience uttered, "That's what a real man plays" while looking straight at me. This was confirmed to me by our first trumpet, sitting closest to the audience. He told me about this afterwards, and I could hardly keep from busting a gut laughing about it. Keep in mind I was playing an older unlacquered rotary F tuba with about a 14" bell and not a silver BAT. I wonder what she would have said if it was a female tubist playing?
Oh, and when our tux clad first trumpeter originally entered the hall, he was asked to go into the kitchen to help carry stuff because they though he was part of the wait staff. :P

Anyone else hear any funny comments this season?
