Anyone familiar with this piece? Anything major to watch out for in the bass/3rd trombone part?

Why is a segment of the second movement of this piece played at the end of every concert at Interlochen?

No! They
stopped that?
(And of course, the British readers are having a chuckle, picturing all the young ladies with NO knickers)

Hanson wrote his second symphony at Interlochen way back when. He "gave" the theme to Interlochen. In all the folders used by everyone was the Star Spangeled Banner and the Interlochen Theme on the same page. Tradition was that at the end of every concert, the concertmaster would conduct the Interlochen Theme. This was to signal the end of a concert for the radio broadcast.

Thanks Brian,
I guess the tradition is not such an alien concept as a closing piece after all....
