Legato Etude Suggestions for Euph Audition?

Any suggestions for a lyrical euph audition piece? It's for a junior college/community wind band.

The exact wording for the audition is:
Scales: Majors - Through three sharps and four flats
Legato Etude: A two-three minute slow, expressive piece demonstrating good tone quality
Articulation Study/Etude: A two-three minute technical piece which displays your ability to perform various articulations and rhythms at a fast tempo

I have a couple pieces for the articulation/technical, Toccata Marziale, Sousa marches, ... I need some more ideas for the legato/lyrical.

All good suggestions; but the original post said "legato etude".

So, I still say Rochut No. 1.

Any Rochut etude would suffice

Thanks for the ideas, keep them coming.

Yes, Rochut/Bordogni came to mind with the mention of "etudes", but I'd like to consider other songs. I've always had fun with the sad (minor) feel of a sarabande. I'll be hitting up the local music stores to look for the suggestions that I don't have.

Blazhevich #20 is a really nice sad one.

I would think a couple of the Vaugh Williams Six Studies in English Folksongs (arr Droste) would do nicely.

Minor sarabande--try the sarabande from Bach cello suite #2.

Probably my favorite short "sad" piece ever.

All good suggestions so far. Here are my personal favorites for legato work:

ETUDES
- Rochut
- Tyrell
- Concone

EASIER ETUDES
- Studies in Legato

SOLO-TYPE
- Any of the Bach Cello Suite Preludes
- Some of the interior movements of the Bach Cello Suites
- Vocalise/Rachmaninov/arr. Mead
- Salut d'Amore/Faure/arr. Werden
- Apres un Reve/Faure/arr. Mead
- Slow Sparke solos - Aubade/Song For Ina

When picking something make sure that it fits in the comfort zone in terms of range. The last thing you want to do is to challenge the student with range while you are trying to challenge him with legato playing. One thing at a time.
