Congratulations and a Merry TubaChristmas to all who participated in the Chicago event held at the Palmer House Hilton earlier today.

Unfortunately, I was not able to come but watched with pride at the local news stations reporting about the 400 or so players, ranging in age from 10 to 82, who showed up a played their hearts out.

You missed a Tuba Christmas. If you were watching Channel 7 they had 2 errors in their newscast at 11pm:
1) They said it was in honnor of Arthur Bell

2) That the youngest was 10 there was actually a 7 year old girl playing a euphonium.

Thanks for clarifying. When dealing with most media on this subject, we should be thankful that they know what a tuba is and can report the story with a minium of snide remarks and the usual tuba jokes. You will note that there was no mention of that "euphonium" thing.

BTW, as I write, I listen to a CD my teacher gave me entitled "Debut", a CD cut in 2003 by the Air Force Band of Mid America's Tuba-Euphonium ensemble. 19 tracks, ranging from "Brazil" to the National Anthem. Great listening, if you can get your hands on it.
