Does anyone have any experience painting Walt Johnson flight cases? What type of paints are best and techniques (brush or spray?) or any other tips would be helpful. Thanks.

Why would you want to paint it?

The color in the case is actually a pigment in the top coat. If you're trying to cover up chips in that, better to get some resin and pignment (you can buy it at your hardware store) and fix the chips. Walt says that you can get the best match in texture by using a piece of sponge rubber as an applicator.

I purchased my WJ case used and there were some brown and white spots showing through where chips or chunks had been taken out by normal wear and tear. I grabbed one a big black sharpie permanent marker from my pencil cup and went to work. From a couple feet away you can't tell that there had ever been any cosmetic work done. It may not be as 'perfect' as other ideas, but it's great for touch-ups and is only a couple of dollars.
