Are you doing the ENTIRE thing, or the judiciously cut version? Lovely work, a little long. I seem to remember an excerpt from it showing up on the Baltimore list when Dave Fedderly won the job there. Great recording just re-released on CD of LA/Rattle. Bobo at his best!!!! Enjoy the tones. BTW, Barry Manilow killed the 3rd Movement for me, sorry I can't help but think of that whining voice singing "I'll Never Love Again", and for good reason I am sure.

You can blame Barry Manilow for murdering Chopin, but I think the Raspberries were responsible for homicide to Rachmaninoff's 3rd movement opening ("Never Gonna Fall in Love Again")...

Fantastic piece of Music , as is all of Rachmaninov's work , had the pleasure of playing Symph 2 and Symphonic Dances while I was the tuba player for the North Wales Youth Orchestra conducted by Malcolm Binney..great memories of playing alongside a very young Gavin Saynor , played Symphony 2 a few times since in Chester and Wrexham never fails to make me smile and enjoy the music...
still if you have a 981 that will be fine , good instrument to really project the sound required.
