Caring for Thayers
I just checked out a double thayer valve bass bone from my school. Would anybody mind giving me a crash course on anything that's different about these as compared to regular rotors (or direct me to an applicable website)? Thanks.p

When they are working, don't mess with them. Occasional oil on the bearing (section where the linkage arm attaches) will do the trick. If they stick, try running some water through the valve.
Thayers can be very finicky, depending on which brand you have. Sometimes using oil made the ones on my bass stick. Once they were operating smoothly, I left them alone. Too much valve oil can eat away at the valve-tuning-slide lube and cause it to gum up the valves.
