My quintet from last semester has dissolved into a trio this semester (Horn, Trombone, Tuba). We have a very limited repertoire in our school library. I was just wondering if anyone can recommend any good pieces composed for this ensemble?

Did a Beethoven trio a few years back on Baritone, Euphonium & Tuba from the Robert King series;

Some excellent stuff would be the Bach trio sonatas for organ. But somebody would have to do the transcribing. It might take two to three hours to enter one of the sonatas into Finale or Sibelius and tell it transpose. It wouldn't surprise me at all if somebody has already done this.

Try John Stevens' "Triangles". Very good work for this ensemble.

Anton Reiche wrote numerous trios for horn that transcribe VERY nicely for tuba and euphonium (trombone).

You might try some flexible instrumentation collections. Go to
http://www.jwpepper.com and type in "trios for all" in keyword search. Alfred music has a series of collections for flexible instrumentation. They are pretty good for generic arrangements. It will get you the biggest band for the buck and offer you a variety of tunes for fun and learning.

I just noticed the Penn State on your location. Disregard the easy trios for all. Obviously these are jr. high/high school arrangements

And you can find them
here, completely legal and for free!
They even added some transposed parts as well, athough for your particular combination these won't work

You can get the source files as well, so maybe you could re-transpose them.

There is a very nice edition of these available from Pelican Music Publishing (which also publishes my tuba duets.) Available online:

I did an Arcadelt Trio in college that I currently publish. It is called Dormendo and would work very well for the ensmble you mention. It is available on the BVD Press website.
