There's also I guy who lives around the corner from MSM on Claremont named Terry Riley, or at least I think that's his name. I've had him do a few things for me and he was good and reasonable.

His name is Terry Pierce, and he is excellent.

"The Music Shop" in Boonton, NJ isn't too far from NYC, and their tuba guy Tom is also very competent.

Yamaha Artist Services, Inc. at 689 Fifth Street is the new home for Wayne Tanabe of Brass Bow fame. Chicago's loss is New York's gain. You might give him a try as well.

Dillon Music is my first choice. A close second would be Chuck McAlexander at the Brasslab at (212) 243-7180. Chuck has done some really amazing work for me in the past. Matt Walters? Well, his reputation and work speak for themselves...simply astounding!

I need some basic but fairly extensive work (valves, corks, slides, dents etc.) on my horn.
Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the correction about Terry's last name. I wasn't 100% sure about it.

Terry Pierce is very good and affordable -- and he'll take time to deal with you and adjust things how you like with you right there... and his turnaround time is very quick. I highly reccommend him.
He lives right near the Manhattan School of Music and has a shop built into his apartment. His phone number should be listed in the white pages.

So if Wayne Tanabe is really in NYC now, who's the person to see in Chicago?
