There is a new Naxos recording of "British Tuba Concertos" by James Gourlay and the Royal Ballet Symphonia available. Amazon has it I think for around $10 + shipping, but for those who enjoy iTunes you can download the album for $5.99 (or .99 per track). A real deal either way.
Works featured are Gregson, Steptoe, RVW, and Golland.

Jim's a great player and very humble. I am planning to get this recording. I saw him play in a recital at UC Riverside about six years ago.

Yes, Great CD all round. Excellent performance from both soloist and orchestra, and very well recorded.
I was speaking to James about it on Staurday. They recorded it in the same studio as Superman soundtrack was recorded, which he also played on!
He is playing the Besson 980 EEb for the entirity of the Recording by the way, and he's very pleased with the outcome!
If you're in the UK I think you can order the CD from his site for £5!

I'm almost sure he would have done that on a Yamaha Maestro, as he'd just developed that at that time.

I've had this disc for a few weeks now.
It is excellent to say the least.
The Gregson and Vaughan Williams are exceptionally well played, but I am really the most taken by the Roger Steptoe Concerto and the John Golland Concerto, both of which were unknown to me.
The Royal Ballet Sinfonia under Gavin Sutherland does a fine job of playing the orchestral parts, too, making this CD worth the $8.99 Tower Records is charging for it to say the least.
