I've been using the peppermint version lately. It seems to work well, and I love the scent.

How does the scent compare to the Zaja line of valve oil?

I had heard that a tuba player once used the Zaja Swiss Chocolate scented valve oil and the trumpet section kept bugging him to share the Hostess Cupcakes.

I have used Zaja valve oil because it works well, regardless of the scent.

However, the last time that I purchased Zaja, the vendor did not have the unscented in stock. I settled for French Vanilla, which I thought would be the most neutral. I don't mind it. But when my horn was tried recently by a fine player who frequents this BBS, he said that it smelled like pipe tobacco. Just the thought of that will make me insist upon the unscented Zaja.

I've talked to some guys at another shop who have the Zaja scented.
Lime smells like pine sol
the chocolate smells like it comes from an adult film store

Glad you like the oil. Because I'm not an oil Nazi, I like to stay with petroleum oils that I can mix or match should I forget to bring some with me. Actually what happens is someone in band begs me to sell them my bottle of oil to save them a trip to the store, then I forget to grab another bottle for myself. So, I end up begging to borrow oil sooner or later. Anyway, the SuperC oil is the first oil that I could actually feel a difference with. I like Citrus, but maybe my next bottle will be Peppermint. There are a lot more scents than with Zaja. Of course Unscented sells out quick. We'll bring some to the Army Tuba/Euphonium conference.
And we are bringing some "Chop Saver" too!!

I like my valve oil to smell like valve oil. It reminds me of my younger days in band with the Holton oil that came in little glass bottles with a glass and rubber eyedropper. Only prblem was that my glaucoma meds were packaged the same way. OOPS.

My ex-wife hated the smell of valve oil. She liked the tuba but not that smell. My fiancee accepts the good with the bad. She says the smell of the valve oil doesn't bother her. The nice smelling stuff came out way too late for me.
