Does anyone know of any tuba solos with accomp. suitable for a middle school band? The director and I have all ready considered transposing existing pieces written on that level (several for trumpet, etc.) but are there any written for tuba?? Thanks!

There is a tuba version of trumpeters lullaby that is relatively easy for tuba. I did it when I was in 8th grade with my middle school band accompioning me.

A Touch of Tuba - Art Dedrick. Level: 4. Published by Kendor Music
Agreed; good piece for this purpose. Accessible for both the performer and easy on the ears for the audience -- it is actually likeable and somewhat cute.

Plus, it comes with a piano accompaniment that would be very useful for preparation prior to rehearsing with the band. (I don't know if it still does -- but it used to come with a little "cheapy" vinyl record [for the turntable] that gave a demo performance; maybe now a CD???? I don't know...)

I Agree with Bloke & JB.

Who is the composer for that?....and would it be a decent piece for a high school jazz band?
