SENSITIVITY OF OBJECTS IN THE ROOM

Have you ever played your tuba at home and notice that it makes some of your appliances vibrate? When I was in the Army band and practiced in the barracks, at one post, it made the florescent lights sound a B natural on middle line in treble clef when I played a fourth space G. I tried it with different tubas in my room and got the same result.

My hanging wine glasses rattle on D either in the staff or the one a line below the bass clef. Kinda cool, but kinda annoying sometimes. My 20K REALLY rattles them good, more than other tubas I have.

Ah, the miracle of difference and additive tones. With AC current being on-off, etc., and it's unfiltered characteristic being more akin to a square wave than a sine wave before filtering, it's no wonder, with square waves having only odd overtones, that the additive tone produced was the 3rd, and not an octave or a fifth. In pipe organs, this overtone is what makes a rohrflute sound like a rohrflute (with its reed, or chimney sticking out the top) and not just as a plain gedeckt or bourdon.

Our practice rooms rattle alot of the A first space in the bass clef. and then when i'm in ensemble my stand and chair rattles (or shakes) at the D right below the staff in Bass Clef.

I have a snare drum in my music room that rattles constantly if I fail to switch it to tom-tom.
My wife told me my tuba playing was sexy. Been married 45 years to her and still getting it done.

I live in earthquake country, so we are aware of what shakes in our houses here. (Never use those flimsy fiberboard bookcases... they disintegrate in a 4.3!)

I've heard a lot of people put the "child locks" on their cabinet doors so they won't fly open in minor earthquakes. Is that so?
