I've been thinking about ordering one of these since I don't own all of the tuba parts, and hardly any of the trombone parts. I imagine some folks here have it already. If anyone has experience with it, are the .pdf scans of the actual parts or is it Finale-ized?

If the original parts, are they all legible? Any other feedback is welcome, too.

I've seen the parts, and played off of them and they look great. Most of the tuba parts are clean. Some of the parts were scanned from larger paper size than 8.5x11 so they have been reduced a bit.

The CD just contains a bunch of files and folders... very easy to use. There no software involved or anything, just Acrobat.

For those of us who are clueless, could you give more details about what this is about? Where is the website? How much? What is on the CD's?

This is the list of what you get on the CD- Adobe Acrobat required to view.

It's basically $89.00 for all the low brass parts to those works.

You also get future updates/downloads of pieces that fall into public domain, I assume.

Gordon Cherry has done a real great service to the low brass community with his Low Brass Excerpts CD. He has compiled a collection of low brass parts to standard orchestral repertoire that is in the Public Domain. He then scanned them as PDF files and placed them on a CD-ROM.

The CD is priced VERY affordably at only $90 (a mere pittance for such a great and useful tool)and comes with free updates, which are distributed via email with a link for download. The images are clear and are exactly the parts that you will see on the stand. The updates include new rep he has added to the collection as well as new scans of different editions or of cleaner parts. I particularly liked the complete Ring Cycle parts which include the 4 bones, Tuba and Bass Trumpet parts.

I personally love that I no longer have to take up valuable NYC apartment space with paper copies of orchestral parts (they made a nice graduation gift for one of my students last year!). Its also nice that this collection is so portable too.

I had that issue too. I emailed Gordon and he sent me a brand new CD with all the updates. I'm sure he'll do the same for you too.

We haven't given up on the updates. Since we updated our website a couple years ago it presents new opportunities and with that comes time We will do our utmost to get another update out by the end of the year. Right now we're working on automating our pdf delivery to make it almost instantaneous after purchase. Once that is working well we will see if we can get into our Low Brass data base to then get a link to the next update... which will be huge. We've been collecting a lot of material. So please continue to be patient.
