Has anyone heard Gordon Goodwin's Big PHAT Band? I have 2 of his albums and they are incredible.
No tubas, but if you like modern big band stuff it is awesome.

No tubas? Shouldn't this be in the OFF TOPIC section?

My daughter's high school marching band (El Dorado in Placentia CA) has used Goodwin's music for the last two seasons. They took sweepstakes at many competitions. The Big Phat Band came out to witness the "Big Phat Field Show" and then preformed a concert for us. At $15 the 750 seat auditorium was filled with standing room only. All of their musicians are incredible soloists, I especially enjoyed listening to Eric Mariethal (spelling?).

INCREDIBLE big band. It's worth checking out the site of their lead trumpet player as well. His name is Wayne Bergeron, he is incredible.

Well the heading for the Tubenet forum says, "The bulk of the musical talk" Not specifially "tuba talk"

Besides being a tuba player, I hold down the bottom end of my high school's jazz band by playing bass. I've played some of their stuff at various band camps and regional clinics and, I must say, it is quite amazing stuff. If any of you get a chance, check out Mueva Los Huesos (Move Your Bones). A truly amazing latin piece.
