Frosty-looking section on new Conn Helleberg

I bought a new Conn Helleberg mouthpiece from Mouthpiece Express a couple of months ago. Everything looked fine until last week. I pulled it out of the blue plastic holder and there was a section that wasn't shiny, and had a kind of a satin silver finish to it. It covers part of the outside of the bowl and the outside edge of the rim--almost as though it had been left lying in a small puddle of something caustic. Could this have been caused by putting it away wet? I haven't tried polishing it away because I don't want to mess with it if it's a manufacturer's defect.

Thanks.

If it looked fine when you got it, I doubt that this is anything more than normal tarnsihing. A little polishing with a gentle polish should do the trick. If it were a manufacturer's defect, it would been visible at the outset.

Do they still make Tarn-X? That might do the trick.

those rubber mouthpiece protectors do that.
i'd suggest a new mouthpiece pouch, pro-tech or soundware.
