Hi!

I own a Gronitz PF-125 silver F tuba for about 1 year and i truly love it! I tried and played many F tubas(yamaha, miraphone, rudy meinl, B&S) before i got a Gronitz in my hand and this is the one i prefer by far.

The sound is wonderful trought the range and the low register is really there but doen't sound like a small C tuba..

Excellent horn for quintet, solo and orchestra!

I got mine from Tony Clements in California.

I didn't try the CC or BB horn yet but they got really good comments from people who tried it.

Again, if yours was stolen and you truly loved it, you could probably buy this one and have it silver plated to look like new for a total (acquisition + restoration) of under $600...possibly as little as c. $500.

Worse. It was my dad's that my grandmother bought for him brand new after his father (my grandfather) died. When I outgrew my starter trumpet, my mom (my dad had also died in the meantime) sent it out to be reconditioned and, to be different, since they are almost all lacquered, I asked for silverplate. It then got stolen from me in college. I know it's partly psychological, but I played co-lead in high school, including the lower parts of the stratosphere, and haven't been able to do a thing on another trumpet since. So I took up residence in the trenches. Here's the catch: Before I knew what the markings meant, there is either an S1 or an S2 bore designation on the valve block under the serial number. S1 is .448, S2 is .458. I don't know which it was, as I did not copy that number down, not knowing at the time it meant something significant. So I keep looking and hoping. Thanks for asking.

BTW, my horn has the thumb screw/nut to tighten down the main tuning slide and a 1st valve ring stock.
