I just visited my old high school because they got a tuba donated and the band director wanted me to check it out. The bell engraving says "Carl Fischer" and underneath that, it says "New York." It's very worn, and has no lacuqer on it, but it sounds great. I'm just wondering what brand it is, if anyone can tell me. Thanks all.

If yo could take and post some pix, that would help a lot.

Carl Fischer sold a number of makes under their own name. A good likelihood is that this is a Conn/Pan American stencil.
The other posters are right--braces, ferrules and valves can tell a lot of the story. In addition, any engraving that's on the valve casings will help.

I don't have a digital camera, but when I get my hands on one, I will post some pictures for you. Thanks for the input so far.
