Tuba Duets

Post by MikeMilnarik »

Hi Dan,

You should definitely check out Sanae Kanda's "Goodies for Two Tubas - Volume I." They are a book of 10 duets for a variety of levels. There are some fun ones, some that are a little more advanced and some for educational purposes. The duets are...

1. To The Next
2. Quasi Tango
3. Quasi Blues
4. In C
5. Tune It!
6. Quasi Jazz
7. Simple Waltz
8. Single Line
9. Ancient Dance
10. Mysterioso

#5 and #8 are especially good for younger students. #5 has both players playing and very gradually changes the intervals between them so that the primary focus is to listen to the pitch between the players. #8 - the players never play at the same time. The primary focus is to listen to the person that starts and imitate their sound, pitch, articulation etc.

Many of the pieces in the book can be performed and are funny to listen to.

Hope this helps a little.
