Tuba+Flute idea?

After mentioning Ivan Rebroff and going back to listen to one of his CDs, I got to wondering if "Der Bär und die Lerche" might make a nice piece for contrabass tuba and flute. The liner notes aren't clear where the tune comes from or its copyright status.
