Thanks but it's dry here

Post by brianf »

I've had a number of emails and phone calls this morning, seems Gurnee, Illinois has been on the national news with the flooding. Although I have a PO Box in Gurnee, I actually live about 6 miles away.

Gurnee's "downtown" was built in a flood plain of the Des Plaines river and floods about every 15-20 years. We have been getting drenched lately and the river overflowed. They sandbagged a few schools, businesses and even the fire department. A few roads are closed including my main link to I-94. Some places, including my dentist's office are underwater - it's a mess in the flood area, I was near there yesterday.

Anyway, thanks for those who were wondering how I was doing. I had a minor flood in my office (looks like 5 cases of books got it) but everything is dry. We did have a scare Sunday night when we spotted a funnel cloud. Luckily, it did not develop or touch ground.
