While the tuba can look too big on a desk as a paperweight, the euphonium fits into smaller spaces, and therefore can hold open more doors, so I'd say that's the MOST versitile of the two. :P

I get better traction with a tuba in the back of my pickup than with a euphonium. Then again, my oval euph is easier to point into the glockenspieler's ear.

It's all about the right tool for the job at hand.

I'd take a tenor tuba over either one!

Here are a couple that might qualify:

For gifts, Ilike this one best:

This one is more "hi-tech" (sorta...)

So is this one...

And here is where they make 'em (says so in the title):

A piano makes a heckuva paperweight or doorstop and can also be used for ammunition:

[Maybe an intrument would help...]

I think a piano's a versatile instrument. Extended range, can be in the forefront or the background effectively.

You can burn it, beat it, or throw it over a building and it'd all be equally fun too.

Kidding aside, the MOST versatile instrument has to be the Mighty Wurlitzer. There used to be one of these at a pizza joint in Dallas, and it was an amazing thing.

That's mighty purty, Joe, but you've obviously never heard of Thaddeus Cahill:

It takes less blows to knock someone unconscious with a tuba. But, a euphonium is easier to hide under an overcoat.

Come on, we all know that Bach invented the analog synthesizer:

Most versatile TUBA? I'd vote for a Willson 3400 5V (4+1) Eb. Close 2nd place (imo) would be the Besson 981 Eb.

Most versatile INSTRUMENT? (overall) I'd pick a modern era synthesizer -- with the "wind controller" attached. Able to "be" ANY instrument with the added benefit of pitch bending via a manual or via breath control.

Most versatile WIND INSTRUMENT? Hmmm ... Euphonium or alto sax would get my vote.

Cheers,
