Hey guys,
Can I get some suggestions of tuba solos that have confirmed band accomp.?
Things on level with the Broughton, V. Williams etc. Would like to find something jazzy maybe or more modern but NOT "modern". Something that the public would like.
Thanks,
Corey.

You might like Jerry Lackey's "Jazz Concerto". It has a band accompaniment and is available from the composer. He lives in South Bend, IN. I don't have his information anymore, but you can probably find him online.
Blue Bells of Scotland or any of the theme and variation solos are good crowd-pleasers. So is Rossini's Largo al Factorum.
I know some tubists who have done those as well as the Barat Introduction and Dance and the Strauss first horn concerto with bands. I'm pretty sure Rolf Wilhelm's Concertino has a wind ensemble accompaniment, too.
Good luck and happy hunting!
Sean

Concertino for Tuba and Band is a GREAT one, I loved playing it. However, if you want something that has a jazz section then the Gregson Tuba Concerto is another great one, its got a whole bonified Jazz section in it with vibes and everything.

Well, it may not have a really jazz-esque section, but I would say that the Concerto for Bass Tuba by Jager is worth a look. It is a very interesting piece that takes full advantage of the Tubas lyrical and technical capabilities.... without going too overboard.
Best of luck.

This one is rarely played, but a crowd pleaser.
Variations on Barnacle Bill, the Sailor. Arranged for tuba or bass trombone (I prefer the bass trombone range).
Kagarice music publishing.
And I'll be playing this one soon with my band, locally and on tour in indiana in April.
The gregson alao has band accomp. Or, what about the Ewazen?
