that seems to be a common thing among the MW tubas is sticking valves. one of my tuba-playing colleagues has a MW F tuba and it has a hellacious time with sticking valves. i imagine there is some way to fix it, but who knows.
btw, thanks for the info on the tuba. i'm kind of interested in Eb tubas because i'm not quite as up on this hype about owning a CC AND an F horn. if i had to buy a tuba, i want to buy one, and learn to play it REALLY well, instead of having two tubas to learn. i've been urged to get a CC and an F, or a CC and an Eb, but from everything i can tell, an Eb would cover it all. several professionals play on Eb tubas too.
do you think a PT-50 would work on the horn? obviously i'd need a smaller mp for brighter sound and lighter literature, but i just wondered. THANKS!!
