If you like the Wick 2L, try the Wick 1L. It feels slightly larger than the 2L, but not as big as the PT88.

Or perhaps you might try a Conn Helleburg on the 981...

I'm not very familiar with Perantucci mouthpieces although I have a PT-24+ that I've used a couple of times. I find it is similar to play on to a Bach Megatone 24AW.

Personally speaking, I've got the use of two 981's, mine is an early 1990s model in lacquer with straight leadpipe, while the band instrument is from 1999 in silver with curved leadpipe.
I tend to use an old (bought in 1981) Bach 24AW in my tuba and a newish Megatone 24AW in the band instrument.
The Megatone is good for my band instrument for the sheer weight of sound that I'm required to produce while the old 24AW is great in my instrument as I tend to use that for non-band stuff.
I really love that old 24AW. It is quite different to another 24AW I bought a few years later so mouthpieces do seem to vary depending on when they were made.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned the 24AW yet. I'm pretty sure John Fletcher used one in his EEbs and started the trend in the UK.

If you like 32mm cups, try the Conn 7B. Or, go up a bit to the Wick 1L. (the Wick 2L IS 32mm, however). When I want my YEB-381 to sound bigger, I cheat and use the "standard" Conn Helleberg. But my normal Eb mpc is the Schilke Helleberg, which is a smidge under 32mm.

Consider: Conn Helleberg 7B, Wick 1L, Bach 24AW (already mentioned), Bach 18, "standard" Conn Helleberg, Bach 12 (?), and any PT mpc with a diameter similar to these above (between 32mm and 33mm).

My $0.02, having all of these above mpcs (excepting the PT series) in my collection, and more .... (btw, I used a PT-72 with my Besson 983, fwiw).

Cheers,
