Don had this made for him by Newell Sheridan http://www.sheridanbrass.com/
Newell is a great guy and one of the few Thein dealers in the US (lee Stofer is the other) and comes to hang out with us after Georgia Brass Band rehersals, somethimes he'll bring stuff for us to try and this past thursday he brought Ben Van Djik and Hendrik-Jan Renes (bass trombone and tuba of Rotterdam Phil and both MONSTERS). From what I hear, it's not really a great playing horn, but it sure does look cool. Don now plays a Ben Van Djik Tehin model contrabass (not sure what the valve setup is) and he uses it every so oftern with the Ballet (I htink he said he just used it of Madame Butterfly, or maybe he used his cimbasso {F, kalison}).
Thanks about all I know bout it,
Bill

I don't know, I think that BVD pic makes him look like a used car salesman trying to toss in a free trombone if you pay 4 grand for this Pinto back here...

Good job on finding the most John Holmes-esque pictures available!

The Ben Van Djik was delilcious!
And the generous portions that came with the Hendrik-Jan Renes were very filling.
2 thumbs up.
