Hello all,
KING FM 98.1, Seattle, will be broadcasting/webcasting the January premiere performance of the Samuel Jones Tuba concerto tomorrow at approximately 8PM. There will be a taped interview with me and the composer included in the broadcast. I have not heard the recording yet so I am anxious to hear it. The broadcast will start with Dances of Golanta, then the concerto followed by Tchaik 6. Dan Bryce is playing on the Tchaikovsky. If anyone is interested this will be the only chance to hear the piece until Seattle Symphony performs it again May 18. If you are by a radio I invite you to tune in or go online and listen to the webcast/streaming audio.

I hope you enjoy it,
Chris Olka

Here's the web site for KING FM: http://www.king.org/.

The schedule says that the concert starts at 8:12 pm and the Tuba Concerto will be performed at 8:46 pm. The interviews aren't mentioned, but I would guess they might be at 8:00 pm. (All times are PDT on April 12th.)

Just got done listening to the concerto. Great job, Chris! Loved the concerto. I have always wished that there would be a nice, resonant concerto in the repertoire, and it looks like there is a new one that fits the bill! I especially liked the third movement. Great solo lines. Good job all around.

P.S., I kind of feel envious of your success and ability, even though I know I shouldn't! Oh well, back to the practice room.

I just listened to it online. Wonderful job! ...and thanks to Samuel Jones for this great contribution to tuba literature.

Now I wish there was a recording available so that I could hear it at better than web-streaming quality.
