Getzen 1062 or 1052.

Close to 2 grand new, might be able to be found around $1500 used with a few dings.

Can't beat the 1062 Getzen. I've played one for the past 3 years, and it's pretty great.

I will also put in a plug for the Getzen Eternas (1052/1062).

I just recently bought a 1052FDR from Baltimore Brass and couldn't be happier with it! My trombone buddies are envious of just how well this horn plays! I actually sound like a REAL bass trombonist instead of a slide tubist!

Getzens play incredibly well, but you still have to drop at least 1500 or more for a used one. There are a couple of models that can be had used consistently for around 1000. About a year ago I bought a used Holton Tr-180, the dependent version of the new Holton Tr-181, for around a grand, and it is often found on ebay for about that much. It depends on your budget. Older models of Conn, Reynolds, Bach, King, Olds, and Yamaha bassbones can sometimes be found for around 1000.

Check the classifieds on the OTJF. There's also a guy who posts on the forum, DJ Kennedy, who often has used 'bones of all kinds for sales. He's well thought of and worth contacting.

I have an almost new Bach 50B3O FS
While it is not cheap is for all practical purposes new. I have had it about 2 months. It has been out of the house twice.

I need to get some more money together, selling for $2250 OBO. Dillons and wwbw list them for $3029

I also have a conn 62HI with a red brass bell. It is a bit lighter than the Getzens and the Bach, but a great horn for big band. really barks and has a great free blowing valve register. It also has a lightweight slide that is really slick. also 2 months old. I am listing the horn a t $2000 but I would be willing to dicker a little. dillons and WWBW list hese at $2700 .

I can say this, I bought my Getzen/Edwards 3062, for $2900 at Dillons Music. I have gotten it satin finished, and more customized/modular. I would go with what works for you whether its Bach, Getzen, Conn, etc.

These companies are very good, just depends on how you look at it. If you are looking for a certain feel, or sound that Conn, or Bach cant provide, you have Getrzen, or, any other company that has been around for a very long time.
