My teacher just recommended a piece to me, and she couldn't remember the actual title or composer. The best she could remember is that it had the word "Whales" in the title, and was a tuba & tape piece. It also included using several extended techniques to mimic the sounds a whale makes. If anyone could help me, I would appreciate it. Thanks, Aaron "Tubafatness" Hynds

Yes, it does. Sadly, I cannot recall the name of the piece but I remember hearing it discussed. Elegy for the Whale is a cetacean tuba solo, but not the one which you are referring to.

Could it be "Beneath the Horizon" by Priscilla McClean? about 1979/1980?

The piece is "Whales for Unaccompanied Tuba" (1976) by I. Mitsuoka. It's actually a pretty cool piece. The entire thing is done with half valve glissandos and sustains imitating the whale song. It might be out of print. I have a copy so let me know if you can't find it.

It's out of print, so far as I know. Robert King doesn't have it.

So what happens when a piece goes out of print? Is it then okay to give out copies?
