Hello,
I'm looking for a flight case for a PT 606. It's a relatively new horn, so I haven't found a flight case specifically for this model. It seems Walt Johnson is not in production right now. I remember Alan Baer having an Aluminum Unitec case, but their website only has wood cases. Does anyone know if their aluminum cases are available? Do any PT 606 owners out there have a flight case for it? If so, which brand?
Thanks

Mr. Baer's case isn't aluminum, and I can only speak for that as we have essentially the same case, according to Unitec. It's some sort of space age poly carbonate material that they use, and it's unbreakable (well, ATA approved at least...). If you look at their page, the case on the right (the one shaped for a tuba) is their wooden model, but if you picture that shape, with the same construction materials of the sousaphone case on the left, you have their "fancy" (for lack of a better word) case. It's extremely durable, they are extremely easy to work with, custom designed, FAST, and reasonable when you consider you are getting a lifelong case. I've flown with it once and didn't have a single problem (except: they are heavy because of the padding and overall size ---the wooden ones are even heavier--- so the case is about 60 pounds, and my horn is about 25ish, so at 85 pounds you'll get nailed with an overweight fee on most airlines, you just have to find the people who will look past it (I've often found that if you slip the skycap a few bucks, they tend to overlook the weight issue)
i seem to remember there were pictures of Al's case some where on this site if you searched for Unitec. I also have them saved on my computer if you can't find them I can email them to you--just send me a private message.
