Instrumentation for the VW tuba concerto?

Post by Tubadork »

Does anyone know what the instrumentation for the Vaughan Williams tuba concerto is? (The version for tuba and orchestra).
Would be very appreciated,
THanks,
Bill

I see your question has already been answered. Here are some hints on how to find out this kind of information:

Buy a copy of Orchestral Music by David Daniels. I know it is a very expensive book; but if you are an orchestral tuba player, you will use it for many, many years. (You can also check your local library for a copy.)

Some of the online sheet music sellers can act as an online Daniels. I find Luck's Music Library to be the best, http://www.lucksmusic.net.

If you do a search on Vaughan Willams and tuba you get this: http://www.lucksmusic.net/cat-symph/sho ... gNo=O11003. Which gives you the instrumentation.

Kalmus, http://www.kalmus-music.com is another source, but I don't find it as easy to use as Luck's.

You can order the Kalmus catalog for free from the website. And you can buy individual tuba parts. (But they don't have the Vaughan Williams Concerto).
