I was curious to see the opinions about using a cloth on your hand while playing (mostly euphonium).......will the lacquer/plating degenerate from your skin?......Will just a polishing cloth prevent this?

You could dip your entire body in latex and thus protect the finish on your new Yamaha... or you could wear a long sleeved chamois shirt to keep your arm from touching the horn, no belt (buckles can scratch), and cotton gloves (long wrist, of course)... or you could just wipe it off after you play.

Or, you could just play it until it rots...and then buy a new one.
