I understand that Mr. Pokorny was in L.A. accepting an award at USC for the Town and Gown's Alumna of the Year. Congratulations to him!
Don't know who his sub was, though...

That was me. I was scheduled to just play Thursday night but Gene got sick and I played again yesterday afternoon. Glad you enjoyed the concert.......and yes I have hair. The hair is real and it's spectacular.

From John von Rhein's
Chicago Tribune review of Thursday's concert:
Then it was on to "Till Eulenspiegel's Merry Pranks." The Strauss tone poem has been one of our orchestra's signature showpieces practically since it gave the American premiere in 1895. Indeed, the CSO performs this demanding score with such practiced virtuosity that one forgets how easy it is for lesser orchestras to make a hash of it.
Dohnanyi had the CSO playing with an elegance, lucidity and proportion that brought out the music's humor and high spirits...Not for ages have I heard a more refined or enjoyable "Till."
Props, James! What a Till...err...thrill for you!!
