Does anyone know a jazz song called "I Wanted a Tuba"? I heard it several years ago, but I can't remember who wrote it.
It goes something like this: "I wanted a tuba. A tuba so badly..." It had a pretty good tuba solo in it too.
Thanks in advance.

Perhaps, you're thinking of "Santa Wants A Tuba for Christmas", which was written by Norlan Bewley (I think) and sung by Harvey Phillips.

Thank you for your reply. But, that's not it. I think it's about a guy who wanted to play a tuba, and finally finds one at a pawn shop. If I remember it correctly, I found it at mp3.com longtime ago before it was shut down and came back up.

Okay, so after a few minutes on Google, I found that the song is written by Lenny Hat. He may be from Boston area. You can hear the tune at

Click on the link that says "listen to this show", and it's about 53 minutes in to the show.
What do you think about the song?

I want a tuba
Just the one played by my dear old Dad.
It was a Besson
And the very best one that Daddy ever had;
A real top-action one with scales so true,
One that nearly played itself for you,
Oh I want a tuba
Just the one played by my dear old Dad.
Hey, bloke -- I resemble that remark! Except my dad played trumpet, not tuba, although my granddad did play sousaphone in school band! BTW - the description is not just rhyming song lyrics; in my experience it is absolutely true!
