For kicks, I named my Rudy Meinl CC Frances. It was named after a favorite album of mine at the time.

I don't have a name for any of my instruments. But somehow, they all refer to me as Bi$@h!

Sheesh. When I was training for long-distance triathlons, all my cycling buddies used to start the same threads about the names they gave their bikes.

Perhaps I'm just too much of a geek, but I always thought that a bit strange. I may greatly admire the way they look and work, but I've never wanted to give them names. Thus, my bikes were "the Habanero", "the Merckx", "the Schwinn Homegrown", etc.

My tubas are just tubas. No names. I guess I'm not much fun.

I hadn't thought to name my horns before reading this, but after some consideration, I'm going with

"Rick 'doesn't slot the low C very well' Denney" for my F

and

"Bloke Back" for my Wagner Tuba.

(OK, I don't really have a Wagner Tuba.)

Just wondered if you guys that go so far as to name your instruments talk to them as well??

As to windsheild bug's new signature line: I do have a light in my freezer! :) And it's name is "Bertha!"

I was wondering if any other tubae name their horns, or if I need some serious counseling on how I didn't have enough friends because my dad never hugged me. Excuse me whilst I play some Wagner with Abby. . . .and cry.
Yes, you just may be weird.......

The doctor is in. Send me 10 bucks and I'll tell you if you truly are weird or not....

I call my 1261 Rudy. It's made in Germany and its an English style horn, so I figured it had a lot in common with Rudolph Hess...

I have named all of my horns after the actresses in the sitcom "The Golden Girls". They are named in order of size.

Euph = Estelle Getty
F = Betty White
CC = Bea Arthur

All the horns are silver, so I only used the actresses with grey hair (sorry Rue).
