Which stand for piggy

Are you sure you really need a stand? The weight of the Pig is only about 18 lbs., I think. (Unless, of course, weight of the horn is not the reason you are thinking of using a stand.)

BTW, I've heard some good things about the Cerveny 603 CC tuba.

I have both the BBC and the K&M stands.

The BBC stand, fully extended, gives you approx. 26" from the floor to the tuba "saddle".

The K&M, fully extended, gives you from 27" to 31" depending on how far you spread the three legs. It is somewhat less stable with the legs drawn in, but is still usable.

Both stands are very well built and rugged. The K8M is stronger but also takes up much more floor space. The BBC is a bit lighter and much more compact, especially when folded. I like the BBC stand and it's the one I use daily.

BBC actually assembles the BBC stand on-site from parts they purchase from a third party. Judging from the similarity of the saddle and the adjusting knobs, I think they get the parts from K&M.

For a Piggy, I think either would work fine.

BBC stand is so much better than the KM stand, and it's cheaper.

Bad news. Baltimore Brass told me earlier this month that the stand was probably going to be discontinued. I have had one on backorder, and have been told of difficulties with a component source of supply.

That's too bad. They were not available for some time. I ordered mine in early January and just got it a few weeks ago. It was well worth the wait.

Big-time shame if they stop making that stand.

I am in LOVE with mine: best stand I've used. Used to own a DEG a long time ago, and used a K&M most recently before purchasing the BBC this past summer....I'm addicted to the BBC stand.

No slipping, small footprint.....the only gripe I have is no rubber feet...would be really helpful on tiled surfaces.

Can't have everything, I suppose....hohum.

The only stands that I have ever felt comfortable with was the Stewart and Wenger Tuba Tamer. I have left both of those and now use a strap and think it is the best solution for me. Now, I need no hands to hold the horn, can turn pages or reach for something without worry, and no matter what chair I have to sit in the horn is always at the correct height without adjustment. It's also lighter and cheaper than any stand. I made it for about $15 from a guitar strap and parts from the fabric store. You can even play with your back against the back of the chair which is hard to do with any of the other stands except the Stewart.

i used a DEG stand last summer, and my parents got me the BBC one for christmas, and the BBC has definatley been better than the DEG.
