Greetings & welcome,

It's always best to search the archives before asking a question. Usually you'll find an answer there. But don't let that stop you from asking again on the regular board. Opinions change and current thoughts are always good. Here are some links I found by searching the old archives:

Hope this helps!

Good luck, Tim :D

I use a Bach 18 and 24AW. Bachs are good all-around, affordable mouthpieces. There are others, but these are what I'm most familiar with.

The standard mouthpiece that came with this horn would have been a Miraphone C3 or C4, I don't remember which, and I don't have the "modern" number equivalent. In any event, I played one in grad school, and the mouthpiece does fit the horn well, and fit my embouchure well at the time.

A lot of people also like Perantucci.

Try a bunch, get an idea of what feels good on your face, from the wide cozy 24AW to the middle of the road 18, Wick 1, etc. to the traditional flat sharp Helleberg, and in different cup depths and diameters. The Bach 18 and the Conn Helleberg are the most common starting places until you get to the point you can identify what you do/don't like about a mouthpiece, and can go from there.

If I remember correctly, it was the C4, which is now the TU23.
The C3, which was also used, is a little smalller diameter and a little bigger bore, and is now TU21.

My opinion is that is is difficult to go wrong using a standard Conn Helleberg on a Miraphone 186. There are other mouthpieces which work well, but none better(in my opinion).
