Marzan main tuning slide

Post by MikeMason »

ok, burning question for years which i always forget to ask. why doesn't EVERY tuba have the main tuning slide up like the Marzans? this would solve or at least facilitate every intonation problem of every tuba. you could just teach every beginner from day one to use the slide and, for those who can hear, intonation problems would be a thing of the past.on a related note: why doesn't EVERY piston valve tuba have that little latch that holds down the side valve on compensating tubas and euphs? no more damaged stems while in transit-ever again.total cost-around 40.00 per tuba............

You've already seen what needs to be done to a rotary valve tuba to get the slide in the 'up" position; the situation is also quite limiting on a piston-valved instrument.

My .02 anyway.

No, Sheritonjames, I believe you stayed within your 2 cents worth. If not, surely one of us can lend you some of ours.
